Index up after two negative weeks

The MSE Index closed in the green for the first time after 10 sessions in decline. In fact the Index closed the session at 3,742.154 points up by 0.275 per cent. Eleven equities were active as four registered gains, five closed unchanged and two equities closed in decline. The most active equity throughout the session was BOV with 13 transactions, losing further ground to close the session at Eur3.20 down by Eur0.049. It is worth noting that the price fell on the last two transactions of 1,479 shares. Grand Harbour Marina was the day’s other loser having lost Eur0.13 over one deal of 534 shares. Meanwhile, HSBC and Middlesea managed similar gains as they gained Eur0.029 and Eur0.03 respectively. Malta International Airport registered a hefty gain of Eur0.19 to close the session at Eur3.09, while Maltapost, the most liquid equity of the day, gained Eur0.02.

In the Corporate Bonds market seven bonds were traded over 15 deals, as two closed in decline, three registered gains and the remaining two closed unchanged. A negative session was recorded in the Government Stock market as seven issues out of the eight active issues closed in decline, while only one issue gained.
